In the midst of an oversaturated market of male, 20-something Singer/Songwriters “this act has been done, but it hasn’t been done quite like this”. With an unwavering dedication to his craft, Portland-based Singer/Songwriter and Finger-Style guitarist Justin Klump distinguishes himself with a “certain mastery of the guitar”, “strong, scrappy vocals” and “heart-on-sleeve lyrics”, creating a unique musical sound that is well beyond the typical 1-4-5 chord progression. Drawing similarities to such influential artists as Dave Matthews, Nickel Creek and Damien Rice, Klump seamlessly bridges the gap between folk, pop and rock.
Justin picked up his first guitar at the age of 15. By the time a year had passed, he had successfully spent more than 3,000 hours developing his skill, as well as writing a number of original songs. Now at the age of 24, Justin has spent the last six years playing numerous Colleges, Clubs and Festivals throughout the country, logging thousands of miles as both Headliner and support. He has shared the stage with many notable artists including Everclear (Eleven Seven), Ari Hest (Columbia), Matt Nathanson (Vanguard) and Tyrone Wells (Universal Republic). His song “Silhouette” is currently featured on the EarSnacks compilation CD available through Awarestore.com. Artists such as John Mayer, Jason Mraz and Marc Broussard have all had songs on previous volumes of this renowned compilation. Also, Justin’s song “No More Decembers” was recently voted in by listeners to be included on KINK 101.9 FM’s “Plug-in Portland” CD to be released in early summer of 2008.
Justin has recently finished recording several new tracks in Los Angeles with Producer and Cellist Matt Fish (Matt Nathanson, Alejandro Escovedo). Klump’s new EP, “Thousand Mile Dream”, is set to be released in summer 2008.”
